Lake Lucerne is fascinating for its picturesque beauty of landscape and its historic sites. 20 boats – 5 of them nostalgic paddle steamers – enable you to take round trips (Lunch cruise, Lake Uri- and sunset-cruises). You also have the possibility to combine a variety of beautiful excursions with the numerous mountain railways along the lake.
Rütli
Peaceful forest glade above Lake Uri; considered to be the place where Switzerland was founded in 1291; small museum called ‹Memo› and an old country inn.
Schillerstein
Memorial stone for Friedrich Schiller, author of the drama ‹Wilhelm Tell› in 1859; can be seen only from the boat (located between Rütli and Brunnen).
The Tell Chapel - Sisikon
Based on the legend, it was here where Wilhelm Tell escaped Gesslers boat. The original chapel was built in 1388. The one you'll find here today was built in 1879/1880.

The Hölloch is - with a length of 175 kilometers - the third longest cave system in the whole world. Known since 1875, access to the public was first made possible almost a hundred years ago. Don't forget to pay a visit and let yourself be amazed by underground gorges, huge spaces and mysterious stone formations. It gives a stunning insight into the traces underground water left during a period of half a million years.

Schwyz
The capital town of the canton has a number of interesting museums and magnificent buildings: the town hall (17th century) on the main square, the Ital Reding Estate, the Baroque parish church of St. Martin, or the Betlehem House, the oldest wooden house on record in Switzerland (1287). You will discover many a jewel while walking through the small streets and along countryside paths.

Hiking

The Swiss Path - www.weg-der-schweiz.ch
In 1991, on the occasion of the 7th centenary of the Swiss confederation, a hiking trail was built around Lake Uri, the southernmost and most romantic part of Lake Lucerne. The Swiss Path begins on the Rütli meadow, the cradle of Switzerland, and leads to Brunnen. The trail is 35 kilometers long, clearly marked and well constructed. Each canton is designated a section of the path, with 5 mm of the trail representing one person.

Schwyzer Höhenweg
Mostelberg (Region Sattel-Hochstuckli) - along Mt. Mythen - Holzegg - Rotenfluh - Ibergeregg - Schijen - Spirstock - First and Chli Sternen (Hoch-Ybrig). 20 km long, well tended hiking trail high above Schwyz.

The Urmiberg station can be reached in about 6 minutes with the aerial cable car. You can relax at the charming Timpel Restaurant and enjoy the magnificent view of Brunnen and Lake Lucerne. There is a variety of hikin trails. The Urmiberg is also ideal for paragliding.

Rigi, so called ‹Queen of the mountains› has been considered for over 100 years as ‹the› famous mountain with a view in Central Switzerland, where Europe's first cogwheel train was built. On top, you will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Alps, over 13 lakes and as far as Germany and France. You get there from Goldau, Vitznau or from Weggis.

You arrive in Klewenalp by modern aerial cable car. It's a sunny terrace over Lake Lucerne with attractive hiking, biking and climbing facilities and a wildlife paradise. You can take a boat from Brunnen to reach Beckenried and the bottom station of the cable car to Klewenalp.
